BJ Electric Migrates to the Cloud with Epicor Prophet 21
30 years after implementing the original ERP Platform, Discovery, President of BJ Electric, Brendan Thompson knew that in 2023 it was time to move on and migrate to a more robost system.
After shopping around, Mr. Thompson settled on Epicor Prophet 21 and chose EC Solutions as his services and implementation partner.
Who is BJ Electric?
BJ Electric Supplies was founded in 1976 by Bernie Joseph Thompson. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, it is a Canadian distributor of electrical supplies and products, servicing suppliers and companies with extensive selections fo products. Thanks to its long-standing employees, the company continues to succeed decades on.
After implementing Discovery in 1993, BJ Electric’s President, Brendan Thompson, decided to make a change in 2023, 30 year after the original ERP software was launched. With a growing customer and supplier demand, it became clear that only Epicor Prophet 21 would be able to handle their distribution needs. Thanks to its multiple-choice deployment, migrating to the cloud was a no-brainer.
BJ Electric's Request: Long-Term ERP Relationship
After choosing Prophet 21, BJ Electric’s biggest challenge was finding the ideal partner to remplace previous IT service provider that had worked with them for more than 30 years, customizing their ERP solution to fit their needs.
Objectives
- Find an ERP that didn’t involve a lot of customization.
- An ERP partner that would help with implementation and on-going needs throughout their growth.
Challenges Encountered
- Replace current ERP with an out-of-the-box solution with industry-specific processes.
- Duplicate the benefits of the previous ERP partner.
- Redirect all ERP service requests and processes to Epicor Prophet 21 before the IT provider transitioned to retirement.
Tangible Results
- The Go-Live date was within 4 weeks of the date planned at the start of implementation.
- The cost of implementation was within 10% of the cost quoted at the start of the project.
- BJ Electric had no major issues impacting our quote-to-cash process.
Role of EC Solutions
During the implementation process, EC Solutions’ staff made a point of getting familiar with not only Treo Solutions’ Project Manager but all of our staff on the ERP implementation team.
That personal touch, taking the time to get to know our people and passing that knowledge on when handing off an issue from one EC Solutions’ staff member to another, that has built an enormous amount of goodwill.
That goodwill in turn reduced our staff’s fear of change and reduced organizational resistance to adapting to the new ERP.
