It is an AI assistant built directly into Kinetic’s customization environment, designed to generate Application Studio components from natural language and reduce the manual build time that creates most customization backlogs.

The Customization Backlog Problem
Any ERP team managing customization requests for Kinetic knows the pattern. A request comes in, the business case is legitimate, and it goes into the queue. Then it takes longer than it should. Not because the team is slow, but because even a straightforward UI modification or event setup requires a meaningful amount of manual work in Application Studio.

Application Studio is Kinetic’s no-code/low-code customization environment. It replaced Classic Customizations, which required Visual Studio and C# coding to modify ERP screens and behavior.
The key architectural difference: work in Application Studio happens in layers that sit on top of standard screens. Customizations don’t touch core code, which means they survive upgrades without breaking. For any Kinetic team that spent time maintaining Classic customizations through version cycles, that distinction matters.
Prism Developer
Epicor Prism Developer is an AI assistant built directly inside Application Studio. It doesn’t change how the environment works or replace any part of it. It adds an AI generation step to the build process: describe what you need, it generates the component, you review and merge. The tool is additive, not structural.
How Prism Developer Works
Describe what you need in plain language. Prism Developer generates the component. You review the generated plan before anything merges.
That last step is intentional. Nothing goes into Application Studio without a developer reviewing and validating the output first. This is a human-in-the-loop approach and it is the right call for an ERP context where a poorly placed rule or event can affect multiple screens and workflows downstream.
The components Prism Developer can generate cover the most common Application Studio build tasks: events, data views, rules, and UI elements. For a team that builds these regularly, the time saved on individual components adds up quickly. Overall it can cut customization time from hours to minutes.
Where to Use Prism Developer First
The teams that will get the most immediate value are the ones with high volumes of similar, repeatable build tasks. Four areas worth starting with:

What AI Can’t Do for Your Customizations
Most customization requests that come to an ERP team are legitimate on the surface. A screen doesn’t fit the workflow, a field is missing, a validation isn’t behaving correctly.
Prism Developer helps build the solution faster once the team knows what that solution is. The harder problem is figuring out what the right solution actually is, and that part doesn’t get faster with AI.
The pattern implementation teams see regularly: a request comes in for a customization because a screen or workflow doesn’t match how the operation runs. Prism Developer Requirements and Availability
Prism Developer for Application Studio is available for:
- Kinetic Cloud customers on version 25.1.12 or later
- Users with an active Epicor Prism license
- Users with customization or dashboard developer access in Application Studio
On-premises Kinetic users are not currently supported. Prism Developer is cloud-native and follows the direction of Epicor’s broader Prism roadmap. If your team is still running on-premises and hasn’t mapped out a cloud migration path, the Prism roadmap is a practical reason to start that conversation.
